Get Fit: Personal Development at Lone Mountain Taekwondo

July 10, 2013

Time to get fit in Las Vegas. Hot weather invites revealing clothing that exposes physical imperfections. Many of us dread the thought of putting on a swimsuit. It’s time to assess our health, consider our physical needs and take action to develop good habits for healthy living.

Lone Mountain Taekwondo addresses all areas of healthy living. I walked in under the impression self-defense and weight loss would be the focus. Instead I found moral development, dedication and physical condition to be prioritized over exercise and fighting techniques.

Five days of good deeds and the reciting of tenets is the “first achievement” earning the first stripe. Tenets are Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-control and Indomitable Spirit. The students have an oath promoting respect, honor, patriotism and world peace. The “Kinder Kickers” have an age appropriate oath encouraging the same values.

Lone Mountain Taekwondo is an outstanding place to send the children during summer vacation. It is an excellent solution to summer boredom. In the midst of personal development there is cardio, lots of sweat and self-defense.

The price is great. Everyone is invited to take a free lesson. There is currently a $49.00 special for an entire month of training. The uniform is included in the $49.00. The monthly rates are very affordable and the family rate is terrific.

Discipline, fitness and family fun are the descriptive words for my first impression of Lone Mountain Taekwondo. Patient, friendly, confident, extremely knowledgeable, focused and determined describe Master Sue.

There is more than a feeling of community at Lone Mountain Taekwondo. Master Sue pays close attention to the personal physical needs of her students. If you have physical limitations she uses her years of experience to focus on the muscle development of your weakened areas. Master Sue teaches with dedication comes development.

In the video Master Sue says her age range is 8 to 85. I saw a very cute and focused group of children in uniform warming up that looked to be almost four to six years of age. Those are the Kinder Kickers. Lone Mountain Taekwondo can be a great family activity.

Parental involvement is highly encouraged. The low family price makes Lone Mountain Taekwondo a great place for the whole family to experience personal growth together.
