The Mind Ur Body fitness team recently decided to introduce their Beachbody Fit Clubs to the Boston community as a way to bring awareness of the importance of health and wellness to a community sometimes underserved.
Every Saturday morning, Mind Ur Body Fitness hosts a free Fit Club at the Father Jack Roussin Community Center located at 3134 Washington Street in Jamaica Plain.
“It’s important that we acknowledge that not everyone can afford, or is willing, to pay gym fees or for personal trainers,” Mahalia Thompson, an Independent BeachbodyCoach for Mind Ur Body Fitness, stated. “That’s why these free Fit Clubs are so important. We introduce clients to at-home workouts like P90X®. Insanity® and Body Gospel® for free.”
According to Ted, another coach for MBF, “Not everyone can workout alone, so this Fit Club brings community members together. They support each other, they laugh… and yes, they cry when they see how intense these workouts are.” The fitness coaches for Mind Ur Body Fitness are known for their personalized fitness programs, intense workouts and client-focused approach.
Nevertheless, the participants in these classes, which is open to the public, are loving it. “I feel supported,” one member said. I’m not embarrassed because we are all there for the same reason… and it’s free,” she laughed. “You can’t beat that.”
“I could feel the potato chips I ate last night throughout the entire workout,” Pam said as she grabbed her stomach. “Guess what unhealthy snack I’m giving up first.”
These fit clubs are like no other in the area. Clients work out using various Beachbody DVD programs projectedon a large screen overhead. It’s almost like being at home, but you have the space and a lot of support around you.
“I’m looking forward to their weeknight classes as well,” Amy, another member said. “I’m trying to shed those ‘over-age-thirty’ pounds and I know that just once a week won’t cut it.”
Although the evening workout classes will not be free, the current clients are willing to pay. “They haveus hooked,” Pam said.
“Weeknight classes will have a live instructor,” Mahalia said. “The Saturday morning Fit Clubs use Beachbody videos, along with a facilitator. Weeknights will have actual Mind Ur Body instructors.”
Mind Ur Body is in the process of setting up a schedule for weeknights and should have classes set by early March.
