The fall festival season begins this month and Lynchburg is ready for action. Discover Lynchburg will help you stay up to date on events around town.
Lynchburg's favorite street festival will be held on Main Street on Sept. 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Get!Downtown offers college students, families and individuals an opportunity to see the best of downtown Lynchburg.
There will be live music, dancing, face painting, stilt-walkers, balloon and caricature artists, local retail and craft vendor booths, food for purchase and much more.
Thousands of people turn out each year for this event, now in its fifth year. Put on your walking shoes and head to downtown Lynchburg on Friday to see what Get!Downtown is all about.
There are several events happening in Lynchburg on Saturday, Sept. 14. From early morning until late at night, there's a lot to do.
Head to Miller Park, located between Park Avenue and Grove Street, for Day in the Park. This annual event has been celebrated in Lynchburg for more than 30 years.
Day in the Park is a free, family-friendly festival featuring information booths, bounce houses, pony rides, food vendors and lots of entertainment. Day in the Park hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Just up the street from Miller Park, the Lynchburg Art Festival will be held at E.C. Glass High School, 2111 Memorial Avenue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In the event of rain, the festival will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15 instead. You'll find great artwork and photography from artists around our region. Like Day in the Park, admission is free to the Lynchburg Art Festival.
If you like outdoor movies, you'll want to head to Amazement Square's outdoor theater on Saturday night for the last film of the RiverFlick film series.
Enjoy "Goonies" with your family or friends in a family-friendly atmosphere. There will be refreshments available for purchase. Bring your chairs or blankets and enjoy a movie under the stars.
Mark your calendar for the Lynchburg Beer & Wine Festival on Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Buy tickets in advance or at the gate and enjoy the finest craft brews and wines in our region.
There will also be arts and crafts, food vendors and live music all day. Lynchburg Beer & Wine Festival will be held at Lynchburg's Riverfront Park, located on Jefferson Street.
The Virginia 10 Miler is Central Virginia's premier road race. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Virginia 10 Miler, which includes a 10-mile run, 4-mile run, 4-mile walk and the Amazing Mile Children's Run.
The Amazing Mile Children's Run is held at Amazement Square on Friday, Sept. 27 along with the Virginia 10 Miler festival, a family-friendly event. Come to the festival from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and enjoy the fun.
On Saturday, Sept. 28, runners from around the world will gather as the streets of Lynchburg are closed for the Virginia 10 Miler.
The event starts at E.C. Glass High School at 8 a.m. The four-mile course ends at Randolph College on Rivermont Avenue.
Those participating in the 10 Miler will continue down Rivermont Avenue through Riverside Park before turning and returning to E.C. Glass by way of the infamous Farm Basket hill.
Lynchburg is a great town for family-friendly events. There's also plenty for college students and young adults to enjoy in Lynchburg.
