Some people like their coffee black. But on Friday, October 18, be sure to take yours pink. However you like coffee, if you want to help raise funds for breast cancer awareness and research, then The Human Bean has an offer for you. On Friday, October 18, all four Human Bean locations in Boise will be hosting Coffee For the Cure.
Now in its third year in the Treasure Valley, and the eighth year for The Human Bean corporate drive-thru espresso franchise, this event donates 100 percent of the day’s sales to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, a leader in the fight against breast cancer. Proceeds will be kept local, in order to provide mammograms, treatments, and follow-up care to low-income patients.
From pink ribbons on coworkers’ lapels, and pink gear worn by your favorite sports teams, you probably already know that October is recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Idaho’s breast cancer rate of 119 women out of 100,000 is slightly lower than that of the national average (122 women out of 100,000). But there’s still much work to be done. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in women worldwide.
So, if you’re thinking of treating yourself to a mocha or latte on Friday morning, why not help someone else while you’re at it? The Treasure Valley’s four Human Bean locations are: 2100 Broadway at Pennsylvania, 9162 W. Emerald at Maple Grove, 7802 W. Goddard at Glenwood, and 12473 Chinden at Explorer.
