The 2014 Emmys aired Monday night with the usual fanfare of gorgeous celebrities such as Claire Danes who rocked the hottest hair trend of the night. The Long Island Hair Care Examiner has received a style guide from a New York City professional on how to recreate the “Homeland” actress’ red carpet celebrity hairstyle.

As the 2014 Emmys winded down, a representative for Mia Moore of Pierre Michele Salon contacted the Long Island Hair Care Examiner to detail how to get Claire Danes’ Emmy Awards hair. Having amassed her own impressive clientele over the past decade, Mia has become somewhat of an expert on updos and celebrity hairstyles.

According to Moore, “Claire Danes, 35, nailed her appearance at the 2014 Emmy Awards Show, because she didn’t overdue it.” The front of Claire Danes’ look is pure “sophistication,” while the back displays “wonderful detailing happening along with the lace work of her gown, which complemented perfectly with the classic fishtail braided chignon.”

Although she didn’t complete Claire Dane’s celebrity hairstyle for the Emmys, Mia broke down how to recreate the look as follows. "Do some light curling iron work around the face to create some movement to the hair, then loosely pull it back and secure in a low ponytail."

Divide the hair into two sections, and take a small piece from the outside of the left hand section, and bring it over the top, then join it with the right hand section. Take a small piece from the outside part of the right hand section, bring it over the middle and join it with the left side to make an X. Repeat this until your fishtail braid is complete and secure with small clear elastic.

Texture makes the look intriguing, therefore stretch out the braid by pulling the sides away from each other. Don’t worry about ruining the look, because according to Mia, “When done correctly, these braids are very durable and you can have a lot of fun distressing the style." Next, fashion a bun and secure with bobby pins, then cut the first elastic to help create a more "organic look." Finally, use some spray and pins to secure the bun and you have a red carpet updo akin to Claire Dane’s 2014 Emmys’ celebrity hairstyle.
