It’s officially Derby season in Louisville and Derby Festival enthusiasts are sure to bask in all its glory. One of the most time-honored and anticipated events is the annual Derby Festival Republic Bank Pegasus Parade. Parade goers can catch a sneak peek of various units and floats in this year’s parade at the Derby Festival Pegasus Parade Preview Party presented by Republic Bank. This year’s preview party is on Tuesday, May 3 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in South Wing C at the Kentucky Exposition Center. Admission is free with a 2011 Derby Festival Pegasus Pin.
Floats, inflatable characters, horses, clowns and more that will make their way down Broadway for the parade will allow attendees to be a part of the parade excitement. The Derby Festival Queen and Court will also be available for photos and autographs as they stroll through this carnival of parade magic. Families will be able to get a taste of the entire Derby Festival Pegasus Parade, the oldest and founding event of the overall festival. This event attracted an estimated 235,000 spectators in 2010 and generated more than $14 million in economic impact to the local economy.
