WAG 'n TRAIL - Don't put your hiking shoes away just yet. The Dumb Friends League's ninth annual Wag 'n Trail hike for homeless pets steps off on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 8 a.m. to noon at Glendale Farm Open Space north of Castle Rock.
After the 1.6-mile hike, participants can watch dog demos and sample food and pet-friendly merchandise from sponsors and vendors. There is no registration fee, but participants are encouraged to collect pledges and earn prizes, all while helping the homeless cats, dogs and small pets at the League's Buddy Center in Castle Rock. HERE'S TO HAIR - Hairstylist and animal lover Patrick Lomantini will be embarking on his third tour across the United States to help bring awareness and raise funds for local animal shelters and organizations dedicated to helping animals, including Denkai Animal Sanctuary.
At each stop Lomantini will do 50 haircuts (or more) – all to help rescue shelter animals. One hundred percent of all money collected at each site will go directly to a local shelter or organization. The Northern Colorado Business Report has established a $5,000 fund to be divided between Denkai and three other non-profit organizations based on the number of attendees who select an organization.
