September is National Library Card Signup Month. Do you have a library card? If not, there’s no better time to get one!
Don’t know why you should have a library card? That’s easy: it’s the ticket to all kinds of great things, including books, magazines, newspapers, research materials, databases, movies, music, presentations, workshops, book clubs, games, and still more. You name it, the library has it, and a library card gives you access to all of it. That’s the best thing about having a library card.
The second best thing about having a library card (or maybe the first?) is that it’s free! All you have to do is go to your local library branch and apply. You have the card, you have bestsellers, new releases, old favorites, and everything in between. What could be better?
Of course, if you’re a book lover and reader, you already know how wonderful the library is; if you’re not, do yourself a favor, get a library card, and find out.
Here in Texas (and Tarrant County), there’s an additional benefit to having a library card from your local library: it makes you eligible for a TexShare Card, which gives you access to libraries—and their materials—across the entire state (and Texas is a pretty big state!).
Every place I live, I have a library card. In fact, it’s one of the first things I do when I move. I highly recommend you do the same. And once you have the card, I highly recommend you USE it. There’s a whole other world alive in the library, and this simple, free card is the key to it.
Find out for yourself—at the library.
