Gervais does the Duran Duran story on 'Derek'

Viewers of Ricky Gervais' Channel 4 show "Derek" had a laugh at a cabaret version of the Duran Duran story on Wednesday night's episode.

Comedian Gervais' title character plays singer Simon Le Bon (not Le Bomb). David Earl's Kev wrote the script, "Boys on Film," and also plays bassist John Taylor.

As "Wild Boys" plays mid-episode, the two raid the residents' rooms at the nursing home where the show is set for clothing and wigs.

One of the elderly men at the home plays "Nick Rhodes, genuinely considered to be one of the world's most beautiful men. Check that out: It's a chicken on a keyboard!" Kev exclaims.

Karl Pilkington's Dougie even steps in at the last minute as drummer Roger Taylor.

The band mimes along to "Planet Earth," but Derek doesn't know the lyrics. The audience loves it anyway.

Gervais has a Duran-related history: He appeared on the band's episode of A&E's "Private Sessions," and he also attended Rhodes' 50th birthday party last June.

Speaking of Rhodes, he and Warren Cuccurullo will preview the new TV Mania album and chat with fans in Second Life on Saturday. In addition, a remix of TV Mania's "Beautiful Clothes" by MNDR can be found at Spin.com.
