The German team of Christian Ahlmann, Daniel Deusser, and Hans Dieter Dreher all jumped clean in round two after Lars Nieberg went perfect in round one. Dreher then jumped clean again in the jump-off as Germany defeated Belgium and France to win the competition.
Germany was able to defend their title from last year and the team was very strong because Ahlmann (4th), Deusser (19th) and Dreher (26th) are all ranked in the top 30 in the world.
Germany was not victorious without heartbreak however. According to Dan Austin of the Calgary Sun, German rider Lars Nieberg broke his collarbone after he fell off his horse while leaving the ring.
The prestigious Masters equestrian event concludes Sunday with the million dollar CN International. The best riders from Ireland, Belgium, the United States, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Canada, Great Britain, Venezuela and Colombia will compete.
