Germantown Community Library mixes magic with a splash of history

In celebration of Black History Month, the Germantown Community Library will present a family program that blends together magic and learning. The performance, “Magic Peanuts: Exploring George Washington Carver, the Wizard of Tuskegee,” is scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, at 4:30 p.m., at the Germantown Community Library located at 1925 Exeter Road in Germantown, Tenn. During the show, children of all ages will discover the many products and inventions of Carver through a series of magic tricks performed by Tommy Terrific’s Wacky Magic.

“We are thrilled to have Tommy Terrific bringing such an innovative show to our community,” said Raymond Wheeldon, assistant library director.

Tommy Diaz, also known as Tommy Terrific, grew up in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and graduated from Northwestern University. After graduation, he moved to New York City to pursue an acting career on Broadway. While in New York, he created Tommy Terrific's Wacky Magic show. He recently returned home to Arkansas. He travels nationwide sharing his magic and passion for education with children and families.

No pre-registration is required for this program. The library offers other children's programming throughout the year including story time for young children, activities for homeschool students, and activities for teens. For more information, call the library at 757-READ (7323).
