Experience a slice of German life at Hofbräuhaus Chicago when it celebrates Oktoberfest from September 13 to October 31 in MB Financial Park at Rosemont.
During the 48-day evemt, guests can order off a menu of traditional Bavarian specialties served by Dirndl-wearing waitresses as nightly live entertainment is provided by German Bugle corp., an authentic “Oompah” band from Austria, as well as traditional German dancers.
In honor of Oktoberfest, Hofbräuhaus Chicago will brew an “Oktoberfestbier” using the same method used for centuries at the original Hofbräuhaus in Munich, Germany. All of the beers at Hofbräuhaus Chicago are brewed at the on-site micro-brewery led by a brewmaster trained in the 400-year-old recipes and techniques needed for the production of Hofbräuhaus Chicago’s beer.
Limited-time daily specials will be offered Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on the weekend from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. during Oktoberfest. Hofbräuhaus Chicago will also sell traditional cinnamon sugar roasted nuts during Oktoberfest evenings, from Thursday through Sunday.
On Friday and Saturday nights, Oktoberfest patrons will have the opportunity to participate in a stein-holding competition called Masskrugstemmen, which loosely translates to “the lifting of a liter mug of beer.” The goal is to hold the filled stein parallel to the floor using one arm only. The person who holds it out the longest is the winner.
In addition to stein holding competitions, every Friday during Oktoberfest Hofbräuhaus Chicago will host traditional keg tapping ceremonies. Special celebrity guests will be brought in to tap the keg each week.
