The Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, has taken an incredibly bold move by openly and honestly admitting that the country of Germany is suffering because millions of Muslim immigrants refuse to learn the nation's language or properly assimilate into German culture. Her simple solution: Learn German and adopt Christian values.
In an article released this weekend by Audrey Kauffman, writer for AFP: ""Multikulti", the concept that "we are now living side by side and are happy about it," does not work, Merkel told a meeting of younger members of her conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party at Potsdam near Berlin.
"This approach has failed, totally," she said, adding that immigrants should integrate and adopt Germany's culture and values.
"We feel tied to Christian values. Those who don't accept them don't have a place here," said the chancellor.
"Subsidising immigrants" isn't sufficient, Germany has the right to "make demands" on them, she added, such as mastering the language of Goethe and abandoning practices such as forced marriages.
At a time when the majority of American politicians and celebrities collectively embrace Islam, encouraging everyone in the U.S. to accept the fact that Muslims are just like the rest of us, proclaiming their religion to be a religion of peace, insisting they contribute so much to society, this surpising revelation and plea from the German Chancellor is sure to cause a backlash on this side of the Atlantic.
Europe has supposedly been a shining example of Multi-culturalism, national healthcare, limited Christian influence on politics and society, and other progressive movements being sold as the better model future that awaits us here in America. Yet, their Muslim problems appear to be what our Muslim problems will become in the years ahead. And they seem awfully similar to our Mexican immigrant problems, especially in the border states of California, Arizona, and Texas.
"When one doesn't speak the language of the country in which one lives that doesn't serve anyone, neither the person concerned, the country, nor the society," said Turkish President Abdulla Gul this weekend to the 2.5 million Turks living in Germany.
Will any of our current politicians or those who hope to be elected in November heed the warning signs and follow the lead of the German Chancellor? Or will Angela Merkel be discredited and ignored because her solution flies in the face of those who fear Islamic retaliation and reject the benefits of Christian principles in our lives?

I think Christians need to stop thinking they have a monopoly on moral though. Things like the golden rule did not originate, and is not exclusive, to Christianity.
If the Muslim immigrants have values which are not compatible with the German society, then obviously they need to be willing to change to fit in if they want to live in Germany, and abolish practices like arranged marriages. But Christians need to stop using every little situation that falls into their hands as yet another opportunity to push everybody down in the mud and elevate themselves.
The debate should be about how best to make immigrants fit into society, not how to best make the immigrants convert to Christianity, which is obviously what is on people's minds when they say that they need to "adopt Christian values". Not murdering or stealing is not trademarked Christian value, but is shared by many groups across the world, from moderate Muslims, non-believers and Christians alike.
I don't think the German Chancellor is attempting to push Christianity in a "shove it down your throat" way - but rather use it as an example of a set of moral values which Germans embrace culturally - and she would probably be just as happy if the immigrant Muslim population adopted similar values into their daily lives even if they didn't conform to Christianity.
I believe it is important for immigrants to learn the language of their new environment - in my opinion, it's a sign of disrespect socially and culturally to avoid or make no effort in embracing the culture and language of one's new country.
I think it is unfortunate that people are not allowed to live in a place anymore without also living under the threat of being pushed out by a culture made of a larger population. It is unfortunate that numbers rule in certain cases of immigration instead of education, values, and a willingness to contribute to society instead of taking control of it or living off of it.
Practically speaking, Merkel is hammering the last nail in the coffin of democracy- what is democracy worth, if there is no place for difference? ''The more you look and act like me, the more I will accept you"--is that it?
Americans have a shorter must-haves and should-haves list than most European countries-
Besides, what, exactly, are these Christian values anyway? Does a, say, Congolese understand that word in the same manner a German udnerstands it? Is forced marriage really a ''muslim'' thing? Not all muslims condone forced marriage, while some christian societies do practice forced marriage, typical pretexts being family, honor and inheritance.
Europe is really going astray, and I fear the a new Holocaust is on the way, this time for muslims and other ''semites''. Racism i sjust Europe's eternal disease.
Hey hey ! folks , merkel didn't say any bad about islam yet, she had just said how the nation must go along the progressive way, thats it. When you people feel what she said is wrong, just think about other eligion people who works partcularly in GCC who are also forced to avoid food and water during 30 days Eid, in day time, who will answer this,,,YOU OR YOUR SCHOLLARS?
Doc.
Merkel is insisting that people become christian - i.e. "choose my religion, or get out".
how is it that you haven't realised that this is intolerance?
It's simply astounding that christians preach that their religion should be adopted, all others are bad, and then in the SAME BREATH, whine that other religions are intolerant.
Just breathtaking. In fact, it's downright hilarious.
Wake up doc, you're an intolerant hypocrite, just as much as those you're whining about.
