Gerard Butler is reportedly still committed to the making of Burns, a £5m movie to be directed by Vadim Jean (The Pig Farmer, One More Kiss), where he will bare all in the portrayal of the Scottish poet Robert Burns.
In an interview with the UK's Sunday Mail Jean said: "Gerard and I are both totally committed to the film. There's plenty of sex and nude scenes in it.
"He [Burns] was a notorious rake of his time. We are not whitewashing Burns by any means. He was a complicated character and to do justice to his story is not a simple thing.”
Other Scottish actors on board include Brian Cox and John Hannah, but no actress has yet been cast to play the lead female role of Burn’s great love, Jean Armour. It was once rumored that American actress Julia Stiles was interested in the role.
The movie, penned by Alan Sharp, will be shot on location in Ayrshire and Edinburgh. Most of the budget, which includes investment from Scottish Screen, is already in place. The film is bring made by Jean's The Mob Film Company and Butler's production company Evil Twins.
Butler is due to begin filming a modern adaptation of Shakespeare's Coriolanus, with Ralph Fiennes, this spring in Europe.

gerry has often shown us what he is made of physically minded. he bared all in mrs. brown running into the sea. he was naked in dracula 2000, 300 and law abiding citizen, not forgetting his arse shot in rocknrolla. i personally like it when he leaves something to your imagination i find it much more sexy and appealing when its not all on show and makes you think
Gerry is the ultimate man/actor and he can "bare" all anytime he wants to. He has the sexiest body I have ever see in my opinion!!! And the pics of his wee paunch...OMGerry, I totally loved it!! If it's real!! The man is so sexy!! He has the sexiest legs and arms and I love his wee paunch!! i totally love that "thick" body of his!! He is so manly and yet such an adorable Lil' boy!! The man rocks my world still as he has for twelve years!!!
You go GERRY!!!!!
Is he gonna show his weiner?
If Gerry strips off, I am SO there. There has to be a lot of sex and nudity in a Burns biopic and I'm sure Gerry's up to it. Let's hope he measures up to one of Robbie Burns' more interesting poems....
From what I have heard and actually know about Robert Burns, he was truly a "complicated" man, and it will take a complicated man to play Mr. Burns in this movie...now, I would be willing to bet money that the the man I know, admire, and am a fan of, and have been since I first saw him in Atilla, Gerard Butler, is a more complicated man than Burns was,,, so this movie, BURNS, definately already has a life. To travel to Scotland and actually see the filming would be a dream come to life for me.
Gerry does this thing so well and he is a delight to all. Burns was not a prudish man and I would love to see how they handle all the elements of the movie. I know young Mr Butler will give it his all. Go for it Gerry.

I sure hope I can see this before I die. I'm 67yrs old and have been waiting for this for 8yyrs. What a part for GB!!!!!
I have enjoyed some of Mr. Butler's films and he is very charming and attractive. I am not old fashion in thinking. To me the human body is beautiful. However, I am very disapointed that he is going in the direction of too much nudety and sex in his films. Anyone can go naked on the screen; it doesn't take much art, acting or talent to do that. I think with his acting potential and deep sentiment, which obviously shows through, he doesn't need to take cheap shots. True classy and serious acting should involve; allowing the audience to use their imagination. That's how the GREAT Ones of the screen did it! He has so much to contribute to the art, but I advise him that we all get older and what will happen when the public looses interest in seeing him in his birthday suit? I think that being sexy is just being simply reserved andleaving it to the imagination.
As an Ayrshire lass born and bred and also a big fan of Gerard's, I look forward to his take on our nations poet. I have no doubt that Gerard has what it takes to shine in such a difficult role.
Will be there to cheer him on, and hope this movie gets the credit that it deserves, as It will be no mean feat to pull off.
