An unknown mailer had sent the suspicious package from Mexico. The recipient became suspicious since she did not know anyone from the area where the package originated. She called 911 to report the suspicious package.
The package was wrapped in green paper with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement tape. Authorities noticed a peculiar smell and an opening behind the teddy bear’s neck. Authorities located a strange black substance stuffed into the bear.
Not knowing if the mystery substance caused a threat to law enforcement or the woman, the teddy bear was taken to the police station for further investigation.
A drug task enforcement officer identified the black powder as heroin. The investigation continues while authorities try to find the sender, and learn if the package was meant for someone else.
