2010 College Football Preview: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will enter the 2010 CFB season as the #18 ranked team according to the Sporting News. The good news is this is a team that went 11-3 and won the ACC Coastal Division in 2009. The bad news is they lost four underclassmen to the NFL Draft. Those four players; Jonathan Dwyer, Derrick Morgan, Demaryius Thomas, and Morgan Burnett would have made this team a likely national champion contender this year. Now Senior QB Josh Nesbitt will have to step in and run their “Flex bone” offense attack, and lead the team on the field.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets top prospects for the 2010 NFL Draft

It seems pretty likely that a Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket will get drafted in the first round, and it also seems that at least one of them will get picked in the top 15. In the end it seems very likely that four Tech players will be drafted in 2010, with a fifth that is currently on the bubble.

Demaryius Thomas breaks foot

Georgia Tech wide receiver Demaryius Thomas has broken his foot and will not be able to take part in drills at next week’s NFL scouting combine since he will need 4-6 weeks to recover and rehabilitate the injury.

 Prospect Profile: Derrick Morgan

He is an elite pass rusher, and uses a variety of moves to get around blocks. In terms of short area quickness he may be the fastest kid in the 2010 draft, and does a nice job of keeping blockers unbalanced. He is the kind of player that NFL offenses will have to account for.

Georgia Tech loses Dwyer, Bennett, Thomas, and Morgan to the 2010 NFL Draft

Georgia Tech underclassmen RB Jonathan Dwyer, S Morgan Burnett, and DE Derrick Morgan held a joint press conference today announcing that they would follow fellow Tech junior WR Demaryius Thomas into the 2010 NFL Draft.
