Georgia team wins silver in Chicago tournament

One of the biggest inline hockey events of the year is the State Wars tournament.
The annual inline hockey tournament organized by the United States Roller Hockey Commission (USRHC) has grown in popularity each year. It is a national tournament consisting of players representing their home States.

The 2013 tournament was played in Illinois this year and featured some of the best inline talent from all over the country. The state of Georgia entry represented the Southern region very well winning the Silver medal and further distinguishing the talent level of Southern based teams.

Mitchell Prowant, Mikhail Khudenko Jeffrey Gross, Sommer Ross, Luke Martin, Clendenin Stewart, Jason Foltz, and Kevin Bite made up the Silver medal Team Georgia squad.

Team Georgia achieved a 2-2 record in the AAA/AA 2000 division play. Mitchell Prowant, Mikhail Khudenko, and Jeffrey Gross contributed to the Team Georgia score sheet in the four tournament preliminary matches.

Prowant averaged over 2 points a game scoring 6 goals and 3 assists for 9 points. Khudenko scored 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points followed by Jeff Gross who earned 4 points in the series.

Team Georgia met the powerful Southern California (gold medal) team and lost 9-1 with Jeffrey Gross scoring the only Georgia goal assisted by Prowant.

Andrew Decarlo and Sam Heck both scored 2 goals to seal the win for Southern California.

Ryan Roth who also plays for the St.Louis Junior Blues AAA ice hockey squad scored 6 goals and 3 assists to tie Prowant in tournament scoring during the first round.
