Georgia State Rep. Lee Hawkins District #27 bravely represents Hall and White Counties. As of April 14, 2014, the Gainesville native continues to do so.
The past Georgia Senator represented constituents of Gainesville from 2006 to 2010 when he resigned to run for congress.
Hawkins enjoys working with people directly. His unique ability to relate to others enables him to understand the circumstances of any given situation.
The representative knows how to navigate the often stormy waters of politics with a distinct and unique style.
He genuinely cares for community members and its groups. Hawkins returns all of his phone calls and emails personally. He is well known for lending an ear to anyone who stops by his office.
If asked the representative will not hang up a phone call without taking a survey in an effort to make sure recognition for the operator's work is noticed.
"I am married to my best friend," Hawkins said about his stunning wife Sharon. He is the proud father of seven kids and several grandchildren.

House Bill 943: The Cancer Treatment Fairness Act is just one of the many bills sponsored by the State Representative passed during the 2014 legislative session.
The bill prevents cancer patients from paying higher out-of-pocket costs for oral medications administered intravenously.
"We need to give cancer patients affordable access to the most recently developed and most effective therapies, whether it is in oral or IV form, Cancer is a devastating disease. Patients and their families face enormous challenges without having to worry about breaking the bank or having no access at all.
"HB 943 will provide an economical alternative. Insurance companies that cover intravenously administered chemotherapy must also cover orally administered chemotherapy as an equally favorable benefit. The bill also sets a limit of a $200 maximum out-of-pocket cost per filled prescription," Hawkins said.
Hawkins who is well known for his dedication and compassion was appointed by Speaker of the House David Ralston to serve on the following committees:
The Georgia General Assembly Page Program has been known to encourage students with political aspirations to participate in the legislative program.
For over 50 years the legislative program continues to offer Georgia students ages 12 years and older the opportunity to serve members of the House of Representatives. To date Hawkins is the only known Georgia State Rep. to have had an Autistic student from North Cobb High Page in the 2014 Legislative Session.
The Georgia Representative earned his D.M.D. from Emory University and currently provides dental services to the surrounding communities.
