See also

When people think of the Georgia State MARTA station, food usually isn't on the radar. Appropriately named, the station is usually associated instead with nearby Georgia State University or the Georgia State Capitol. However, there are a few restaurants for a quick bite to eat if you want to make a stop or are in the area for school or sightseeing. See below for the spots to get your fill, with the closest restaurants to MARTA listed first.

Waffle House
The Waffle House immediately next to the Georgia State MARTA station hands down makes this station a stop worth getting off at. Seating is limited, but you can still get all your smothered and covered goodness. Take the Piedmont Avenue exit out of the station and turn right.

Willy's Mexicana Grill
Just a few doors down from Waffle House is Willy's Mexicana Grill in Georgia State University's Petit Science Center. Head here for a quick burrito, tacos, quesadillas and salads.

Located next to Grady Hospital, McDonald's has your Big Mac and chicken nugget craving covered. Take the Jesse Hill Jr. exit out of the station and turn left.

Sweet Auburn Curb Market
A downtown landmark, the Sweet Auburn Curb Market is full of fresh meats and produce for sale along with over 10 restaurants. Choose from eateries such as Grind House Burgers, Bell Street Burritos, Sweet Auburn BBQ and Le Metro Creperie. Take the Jesse Hill Jr. exit out of the station, turn left and walk about 10 minutes to Edgewood Avenue.

Johnny Rockets
If you walk 10 minutes in the other direction, you can have a retro diner experience at Johnny Rockets at the edge of Underground Atlanta. Hamburgers, fries, milkshakes, sandwiches and salads are on the menu. Take the Piedmont Avenue exit out of the station and turn left. At the first intersection, turn right on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and right again on Central Avenue.
