A Georgia school shooting suspect is in custody after a shooting at an elementary school in Decatur, Ga., NBC News reported Aug. 20.
There were no initial reports of injuries in the school shooting. All students were reported to be safe.
At least one gunshot was reported to have been fired in the school shooting but details are still emerging in the breaking story. A SWAT team was said to be on the scene.
Video from the scene of the Georgia school shooting showed children leaving the building and being guided to a corner of a field.
The school where the shooting incident took place is a charter elementary school near Atlanta. According to the school’s website, about 870 students are enrolled there in kindergarten through fifth grade.
A lone suspect in the Georgia school shooting was taken into custody, said Quinn Hudson, a spokesman for the DeKalb County School District, CNN reported.
It wasn't immediately known whether the shooting took place inside or outside the school.
