Georgia peach Isabelle Pasqualone inspires young women on ‘American Idol’

Georgia peach Isabelle Pasqualone, who made it to the Top 40 level on “American Idol,” hails from Atlanta and is an inspiration for young women across America. On Feb. 20, she sang “God Bless the Child” and received praise from the judges. However, her story was even more powerful and memorable.

Isabelle attended Northview High School in Johns Creek. She weighed 200 pounds at the time and said on Wednesday, “I definitely wasn’t the pretty girl. I didn’t get asked to prom. I never went to a school dance. It was tough, but it’s made me who I am today.” After graduating from Northview, Isabelle lost a ton of weight and the self-proclaimed ugly duckling transformed into a beautiful swan with an incredibly powerful voice.

After she belted out the Billie Holiday hit “God Bless the Child,” Keith Urban said, “All I can say, is to every guy that never invited you out to prom, let that performance be the key to their heart.” Nikki Minaj added, “Eat your heart out boys because she’s up here looking like a diva tonight. You look very pretty. You sound very pretty and I’m proud of you. You’ve overcome obstacles and you’re up here shining.” Unfortunately, Randy Jackson wasn’t as impressed, but Mariah Carey stated, “I can tell there’s something in you.”

The talented 22-year-old Georgia peach loves to perform songs by Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. Her favorite “American Idol” contestant is Kelly Clarkson.

In the end, Isabelle was cut from the competition on Wednesday night. However, it was her first "Idol" go-round, unlike several of the other women who made it through. Thousands of hopefuls from across the nation auditioned for their shot at stardom and Isabelle made it to the top 40. That’s quite an accomplishment. If she comes back next year, Isabelle has the pipes and personality to go far.

Look for big things to come from Isabelle Pasqualone. She inspires young women to overcome obstacles and reach for their dreams.
