Authorities are still looking for two large dogs in the Covington area that attacked a young child last weekend. The two-year-old was released from the hospital on Monday after undergoing reconstructive surgery to repair his ear and cheek reported wsbtv.com.

James Hardegree, the child's father, had spotted the two dogs earlier in the day playing with the carcass of a dead animal. One of the dogs was dragging a seven-foot chain most likely indicating the dog had escaped from the owner's yard.

Just being cautious, Hardegree brought his young son into the house, but the child knew how to unlock the door and wandered back into the yard just as the dogs approached from the side of the property. When the child became tangled in the chain, the dogs began to maul the boy.

Hardegree grabbed his son, and the parents immediately transported the child to the hospital.

One dog is described as a Labrador retriever, and the other dog has been described as a Labrador and Rottweiler mix. Please contact Animal Control if you have any knowledge of these dogs at (770)-786-9514.
