A Georgia man was killed in a motorcycle accident on I-95 Thursday, which also left his passenger seriously injured. The Florida Highway Patrol in Jacksonville says 74-year old Charles Jimmy Ownbey of Dalton, Georgia, was southbound on I-95 with his passenger, 59-year old Rebecca Mae Ownbey, around 2:25 Thursday afternoon, just south of Palm Coast Parkway. Troopers say Ownbey lost control of the 2013 Harley-Davidson for unknown reasons and the bike, “…entered onto the west grass shoulder of southbound Interstate 95 and struck the trees.” Both riders were ejected from the bike, but the FHP says they were wearing helmets. The motorcycle came to rest in a water-filled ditch. Troopers say speed was not a factor in the accident. The FHP said Rebecca Ownbey was in serious condition at Florida Hospital Flagler in Palm Coast. Mr. Ownbey evidently was pronounced dead at the scene.
