Last weekend, Georgia Kayak Fishing, Inc. hosted their second of four tournament stops. This stop was located in Tallulah Falls, GA where anglers were able to fish Lake Tugaloo, Lake Seed Lake Rabun and a fourth surprise location on the chain of lakes, Lake Burton. For a short breakdown on additional details of the tournament check out this article.

Forty-four anglers showed up to give their skills a shot, eight of these anglers competed in discounted “Youth” and “Military” division. Lake Seed was the golden ticket for these anglers. The top three participants pulled all of their fish from this river-like fishery.

Third place angler, Ben Adrien, measured in a 15” bass and 21.75” pickerel to secure third place. Next in line was Tony Yang who caught the largest bass of the tournament with a length of 22.5” as well as a 16.75” pickerel. Jason McRae boated the longest combination of fish including an 18” bass, 24.25” pickerel and 11” catfish. The pickerel was the longest fish of the tournament and the catfish was the only catfish caught all day.

Robert Marsh won the “Youth” division with a 16” spotted bass and Jason Hughes won the “Military” division with a 17” spotted bass. Both of these anglers went home with gift certificated for a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 and Commander respectively.

Bass fell to a number of patterns including lightly weighted soft plastics and crankbaits. Pickerel were caught on flashy baits such as Zara Spooks and spinner baits. Walleye, trout and catfish were all caught, but were few and far between using a variety of tactics.

This was a fun leg of the tournament! I, like most of the others, have never fished these lakes so it was a fun challenge. Nice write-up Zach, thanks again for all you do for this sport. Can't wait for the Savannah leg... It will be hot and there will be lots of fish caught! :)
