The National Weather Service in Peachtree City today issued a winter storm advisory, watch, and warning for north and much of central Georgia...along and north of a line from Hamilton...to Warner Robins...to Louisville [Georgia].
They cover the period from 7 pm this evening through Thursday morning. The forecasted hazard types are mainly snow with some sleet. There could be several inches of snow in some of the affected areas during this time frame. The snow is expected to accumulate on roads making for hazardous driving conditions Monday night and Tuesday.
Temperatures will remain nearly steady in the lower to mid 30s Tuesday. The temperature will drop into the upper 20s Tuesday night and should remain below freezing through Thursday morning.
Governor Deal’s office issued a press release about the State’s preparations for the storm. He indicated that he is prepared to mobilize the National Guard to assist in the State’s response. A press conference is planned for noon today to provide more information.
