The Alkali Rampage representing the state of Georgia performed extremely well at the State Wars tournament in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The GA 98 team had an amazing run elevating themselves to thr gold medal round after losing to Kansas in a close contest 3-2.
The Rampage beat Missouri 7-1 and Illinois 9-1 before losing a close contest 2-3 against Kansas. Ironically Georgia outshot Kansas 22-9 with Sean Matthews and William Stewart scoring for the Rampage. Daniel Petit recorded the assist on Stewarts tally. Stewart also was assessed a 10 minute misconduct.
This season State Wars organizers concentrated on hockey with 12 plus hours of rink time per day performing on 3 rinks. As a new addition to the State Wares contests each of the games were streamed live online.
Coach Rob Carter said” We worked our way up from the bottom to get a chance to play against Michigan for the gold medal. The Michigan team has been playing together for years, all year around on the same ice and roller team. We ended up winning the silver medal which was an amazing accomplishment for the boys from GA! This was a spectacular trip and we hope to return to State Wars next year in Missouri.”
In addition, the Alkali Rampage Program won numerous medals at local tournaments including, 16U and 14U wins at 2Hot 4Ice tournaments, and was a finalist at Echo for 16Us.
Daniel Petit scored 6 goals and 4 assists which tied him with Joshua Solomon for the tournament lead in scoring. Rampage goalie Brendon Matthews faced 33 shots in the gold medal game stopping 26 shots while opposing goaltender Jacob Robinson saw 10 shots.
Daniel Petit, William Stewart, Sean Matthews, Dalton Malone, Jordan Carter, Jonathan Heidel, Trystan Chappell and goaltender Brendon Matthews took home the Silver Medal for Georgia.
The tournament scoring for the 98's was as follows:
Won versus Missouri 7-1

Loss versus Michigan 7-0
