Georges St-Pierre is arguably the most meticulous fighter in the UFC. He's like a machine in how he prepares for fights, how he stays in shape and how he handles his business. That's what makes his verbal aggression towards UFC 158 opponent Nick Diaz, during Thursday's media conference call, seem so surprising. St-Pierre is usually calm and shows restraint. Yet, he's never faced someone like Diaz before; who can not only frustrate you inside the cage but outside the cage as well. According to a March 8th report by ESPN.com, St-Pierre made several disparaging remarks toward Diaz:
"I've not always been like this: rich. I started at the bottom and I've worked very hard to make myself where I am right now. I know you don't believe this because you didn't succeed yet and maybe you will never succeed in your life because I don’t think you're smart enough to understand how you should reach that point."
Before Georges could even get these comments out, he was interrupted by Diaz numerous times. It was clearly frustrating St-Pierre because at one time he shouted out "Let me tell you something, you uneducated fool."
St-Pierre also referred to Diaz as a "jealous guy trying to take his place" and at one point declared he couldn't even understand half the words coming out of Diaz's mouth. Which is probably true because Diaz did go off on various tangents that were laced with vulgarities.
However, one thing is for sure, this will be an intense fight. Both men are talented and represent the best that the UFC welterweight division has to offer. Additionally, there is now a clear disdain for each other, which will make the fight more entertaining.
St-Pierre will put his UFC welterweight title on the line at UFC 158 live from Montreal on Saturday, March 16th. It's a clash of styles where Diaz brings a controlled fury into the cage with hopes of cracking the robotic, methodical style of St-Pierre.
