George Zimmerman was taken into custody in Florida according to several reports. On Sept. 9, CNN reported that Zimmerman was taken into custody following a "domestic altercation." Police were called to a home in Lake Mary, Florida after a fight broke out between George, his wife, and her father. While a gun was found in the home, it was not part of the altercation according to authorities.
"'As of right now, (George Zimmerman) has been placed in investigative detention,' Lake Mary police spokesman Zach Hudson said" (CNN). This arrest comes just two months after Zimmerman was found "not guilty" of the murder of Trayvon Martin.
George Zimmerman was taken into custody just a week after his wife, Shellie Zimmerman, filed for divorce. The couple has been having some major problems lately but for things to escalate to this is a bit surprising. While those who believe that Zimmerman is guilty of murder aren't surprised by this (many believe that he is a violent man), others are shocked that he got himself into a jam again. Many expected him to go quietly away and not surface in the news again -- but he's done just the opposite, hasn't he?
"Anytime we have anybody suspected of doing anything, we place them in investigative detention until a complete investigation has been done," Hudson said.
Although George Zimmerman was taken into custody, he has yet to be charged with anything.
