A George Zimmerman painting has already soared to $100,000 on eBay and it has another four days to go before the bidding closes. Artists struggle for years to sell their paintings, but Zimmerman’s artwork is selling like he’s in with the big league artists, as seen on ABC News Dec. 17.
Zimmerman’s painting is of the American flag with words scatter about from the Pledge of Allegiance, like “Liberty and Justice for All.” Zimmerman started the bidding at $50 and it hit $99,966.00 after 98 bids.
The artist of this signed 18x24 inch painting was confirmed by his lawyer to be George Zimmerman, the man who shot and killed Travon Martin claiming self-defense. Zimmerman writes on his eBay offering that:
“Everyone has been asking what I have been doing with myself. I found a creative way to express myself, my emotions and the symbols that represent my experience.”
He continues with:
"My art work allows me to reflect, providing a therapeutic outlet and allows me to remain indoors :-) I hope you enjoy owning this piece as much as I enjoyed creating it. Your friend, George Zimmerman.”
If nothing else, the painting can help Zimmerman pay off his legal fees that were racked up during the trial of Trayvon Martin’s killing. Reports put Zimmerman in debt for $2.5 million.
