At 2 p.m. on today George Zimmerman was arrested in Lake Mary, FL following a 911 call by his estranged wife Shellie following an altercation at her parents’ home. Ironically by the time this story could be verified and sources attributed, Zimmerman was released at 5 p.m. with no charges being filed. During the altercation, Shellie Zimmerman and her father were threatened and somehow Shellie’s father ended up with a broken nose.
But as has become the norm for George Zimmerman, he was released without incidence regardless of the drops of blood he left behind. Yes his so-called lawyer Mark O’Mara dropped what he was doing to rush to the home of Shellie’s parents in order to do some damage control.
In an effort to bring some type of clarity to this whole debacle surrounding George Zimmerman we need to establish a few very basic facts. First of all, the domestic abuse and child molestation by George Zimmerman was not allowed into testimony during his trial for the murder of Trayvon Martin. The fact that he assaulted a police officer would make the claim that he was a helpless little teddy bear while Trayvon Martin banged his head repeatedly on a sidewalk with one hand while holding a bag of Skittles and a can of Arizona Ice Tea in the other seem utterly absurd.
Forget the fact that his first team of lawyers had to vacate his case due to his creating a website to raise money while at the same time not returning their phone calls. Even though Zimmerman raised an estimated $700 thousand dollars, he is in the process of trying to get the state of Florida to pay his current legal bills. As is customary, if a defendant is unable to obtain legal counsel, an attorney will be appointed to them by the state. Since his acquittal and the removal of his ankle tracking device, one would have to wonder why his former legal team is still running to each and every incidence Zimmerman is involved in as if they are still representing him.
In less than two months after his acquittal, Zimmerman has supposedly saved a couple from an overturned vehicle near Sanford, FL. He has been stopped and given a warning by a Texas Highway Patrol officer. The in car video recorded the officer telling Zimmerman to, “Stop playing with your gun.” Zimmerman then goes to the factory that produced the very weapon he used to kill Trayvon Martin and posed for a photo opt. His wife Shellie has pleaded guilty for lying to the judge during his bail hearing after his arrest for killing Trayvon Martin. And last week his wife Shellie filed for divorce citing that after Zimmerman’s acquittal he seems to think that he’s invincible. That word invincible was very interesting due to the fact that Mark O’Mara tried to portray Zimmerman as some sort of super hero after the report of his helping the couple in the overturned vehicle.
Zimmerman appears to be an individual who never expected to see the light of day again after the jury returned following deliberations. From all indications, all these excursions were absent his wife Shellie and looked as if he was trying to capitalize on his celebrity status.
That’s where the real irony of the Zimmerman story comes into play. When a society defends, glamorizes and acquits a cold blooded killer, law has to be change to not allow such a person to roam free in society. If we are to believe that Zimmerman was justified in killing Trayvon Martin because of some photos of scratches on his head and a bloody nose, why didn’t Shellie’s father use that same “Stand Your Ground” law to protect himself?
Of course that’s a rhetorical question and we can only wait to see what new twist the saga of George Zimmerman will lambast on our airways with in the near future. Yes I said “The near future.” This man seem to be on a quest of committing suicide by a teenager in a hoodie, a state trooper in Texas, and now the parents of his estranged wife. Unless committed to a jail or an insane asylum, he’s bound to get his wish.
