The George Washington women won a home tri-meet on Monday evening.
GW prevailed with one of their best performances this season, scoring a team total of 194.675. North Carolina placed second with 193.273 and William and Mary took third with 191.925.
Sophomore Elena Corcoran scored the team high on vault with a 9.825 and also won the event. Junior Betsy Zander also scored well on vault posting a 9.775 to place third. On uneven bars, Zander posted the team high with a 9.775 and placed second on the apparatus. Junior Kiera Kenney scored a 9.750 to place third. Balance beam was just as successful for the GW women. Senior Kayla Carto won the event with a 9.875, which was also the team high while Zander posted a 9.800 to tie for second. Floor exercise was the team’s highest scoring event. Senior Stephanie Stoicovy scored the team high of 9.850 and won the event.
In the all-around, Zander took first, posting a total of 39.025. Sophomore Haley Watts of North Carolina took second with 38.750. Stoicovy took third with a 38.675.
The next meet for the George Washington women will be against North Carolina State, University of North Carolina, William and Mary, Pittsburgh and Bowling Green at North Carolina State on Saturday, February 16.
