George Washington women place third at quad-meet

The George Washington women’s gymnastics team placed third at a quad-meet on Sunday afternoon.

The University of Denver won the meet with a team total of 196.800. Host West Virginia University took second with 196.375. George Washington followed, posting a team total and season high of 195.300. Temple placed fourth with a total of 191.625.

Junior Betsy Zander scored the team high on vault with a career high of 9.875, which also tied her for first on the event. Zander also posted the team high on uneven bars with a 9.775 as well as on balance beam with a 9.825.

Floor exercise also brought big scores for GW. Senior Stephanie Stoicovy scored the team high of 9.850.

In the all-around, Hope Sloanhoffer of West Virginia University took first with a total of 39.225. Zander placed second with 39.150 and Stoicovy placed third with 39.000.

The next meet for the George Washington women will be a home meet against West Virginia on Sunday, March 10.
