The George Washington University women’s gymnastics team placed second at a tri-meet hosted by the University of New Hampshire on Sunday evening.
The GW women scored a season team high.
New Hampshire won the meet with a team total of 195.425 followed by George Washington with 194.750 and Yale with 191.225.
The GW women were strong on each apparatus. Sophomore Elena Corcoran scored a career-high on vault with a 9.850 and won the apparatus. Junior Brittany Doran scored the team high on uneven bars of 9.725 which was a career-high for her and placed fifth on the apparatus. Junior Kiera Kenney turned in the best balance beam routine, posting a 9.850 for a career-high and a first place finish in the event. They finished strong on floor exercise with another 9.850 from senior Stephanie Stoicovy who tied for first on the event with junior Austyn Fobes and sophomore Hannah Barile of New Hampshire.
Fobes took the all-around title with a total of 39.275. Stoicovy placed second with a career-high of 39.000. Her teammate, Betsy Zander, took third with a 38.900.
The next meet for the George Washington women will be a home meet against North Carolina and William and Mary on Monday, February 11.
