George W. Bush's dog Barney dies at almost 13

The beloved black Scottish Terrier, Barney, who once lived in the White House with President George W. Bush has passed away. According to People on Feb. 2, the Bush family made the announcement of Barney’s passing on Facebook on Friday.

Barney lived in the White House from 2001 to 2009. Barney has been suffering with lymphoma most of his life. He was almost 13 years old when he died.

George W. Bush wrote on Facebook:

“The little fellow had been suffering from lymphoma and after twelve and a half years of life, his body could not fight off the illness. [Barney] was by my side during our eight years in the White House. He never discussed politics and was always a faithful friend.”

Bush went on to add that Barney loved the outdoors and loved to go with Bush when he fished. Barney also was an armadillo hunter and loved chasing golf balls.

There is no doubt that Barney will be missed by George W. Bush and his family. Losing a pet is like losing a family member, especially when they have been with their owners so long. Bush talked highly of his beloved Barney in the Facebook post. Bush ended it with “Laura and I will miss our pal.”
