George Thorogood will bring his blues-rock sound to Kansas City, Missouri when he plays under the stars at Crossroads at Grinders on Thursday August 19, 2010. This concert should be a fun time under the Kansas City skyline and a great chance to sing-a-long to some classic rock songs.
George Thorogood is a blues rock musician from Wilmington, Delaware, and he is known for many hit songs including, "Bad to the Bone" as well as his covers of blues tracks like Hank Williams' "Move It On Over," John Lee Hooker's "House Rent Boogie/One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" and Bo Diddley's "Who Do You Love?” George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers have released 16 studio albums, including five that have been certified Gold. What makes George Thorogood such a unique rock story is that originally, he was a minor-league baseball player but decided to become a musician in 1970 after seeing John Paul Hammond perform live in concert.
The current formation of George Thorogood’s band consists of George Thorogood on lead vocals and guitar, Billy Blough on bass and guitar, Jeff Simon on drums and percussion, Buddy Leach on saxophone and Jim Suhler on rhythm guitar.
In addition to George Thorogood, Eddie Shaw from Stringtown, Mississippi will be opening up the concert with some solid blues. Shaw is an African American, Chicago blues tenor saxophonist. Shaw's contributions to the blues include arranging tracks for The London Howlin' Wolf Sessions, which featured Eric Clapton, Bill Wyman, and Ringo Starr. Shaw also has performed with many of blues notables including Hound Dog Taylor, Freddie King, Otis Rush and Magic Sam.
