George Lucas -- Childhood friend to Adulthood manipulator

I have to admit that I was both skeptical and excited when I heard that George Lucas was going to revise his Star Wars films in 3-D. I don't know if I have the gall to say that Lucas, himself, is to blame, but I feel that it is much easier for the general public to blame one person than an enormous dynasty. I don't blame George Lucas for his assistance in helping mold my creative genius from a time when I was unable to comprehend any of this. I can say that, from a young kid, I was inspired enough to attempt my own scripts, which included unoriginal characters from his films and the films of Spielberg, among many others, when I was writing before I ever thought I could do anything but get a bunch of friends together with props and costumes that we had no idea of getting, along with cameras that we had no idea existed with exception to the ones we saw on TV.

I was that type of kid. Unfortunately, I never had the gall to follow my dreams because I was also instilled with a mind that doubted many of the things that I wanted to do. Yes...I know that it is easy to blame Catholicism for this because, yes, it is true, that I was brought into the Catholic guilt along with the desire to be as great as the guys I aspired to be, but I can't really say I had a choice in all that. As far as I know, a kid doesn't ever get to THAT style of thinking until it is way too late to understand. I guess this is why I admire kids whose parents never forced them to go to church or believe what someone claimed was the truth.

However...I digress.

Who do I blame for Lucasfilms's lie that I was going to experience the "greatest 3D experience of all time?" Who do I blame for realizing the lie the same way that I realized the lie of Santa Claus? I guess that the only Fortunate thing that I have is the fact that I didn't have to be bombarded with this cinematic letdown from the TRUE beginning of the Star Wars series, which would be the one and only, TRUE, Star Wars. By this, I mean the one movie that may not have made it past the ORIGINAL had it not kicked so much ass, and, fortunately, let to the EVEN GREATER, 2nd film.

Regardless, I am ashamed to admit that I spent $14 (actually, $28 because one of the guys, whom I never knew before that night, decided to forget his $14) on the "First" film in 3D. What a joke! Why is a film falsely advertised at one time to be released in 3D IMAX at one time, be so far from the truth. By the way, I really didn't like the way that Lucas directed this film anyway, but was hoping that he would make me forget about that with the 3D phenomenon that I thought would be displayed.

I can only say one thing to those of you who have the same background as I. Question whether or not we need to blame the man, or the machine that the man created, for this disaster and less than 3/4 3D LIE that we were duped into paying for. I hope that Lucas the MAN realizes what he has done to the true followers and revises what can, in my opinion, ruin any hope of his fanship in the future.

Let Lucasfilms screw the "new" trilogy, but don't let him do this to the true originals. If so, let him just rerelease them as is. Just as Spielberg needs to rerelease JAWS (finally) as is on the big screen.

Until then, just avoid giving those machines money. Stay at home and roll around in the revelry of your own childhoods and watch the films, if you have the luxury, of the originals as is.
