George Lopez was in a drunken stupor when he was caught on camera laying down on the floor of a casino fast asleep. On Saturday morning, March 1, Lopez’s picture was all over the morning news. “Fox and Friends Weekend” did a segment on Lopez while at a casino in Canada and his arrest that followed. Lopez being Lopez went on to do a show the following night and actually made his drunken antics from the night before into jokes.
Lopez was arrested for public intoxication, but it turns out he was just let go and wasn’t charged with any offense. Apparently he has some fans up north! As the Vancouver Sun reports today that Lopez was quick witted when it came to dealing with the fallout of his night out on the town. The funny man showed little to no embarrassment once sobering up and made his lemons into lemonade by telling jokes to his sold-out audience the night after the incident.
When more than 5,000 fans packed the Coliseum at Caesars Windsor last night, Lopez was in top form with the jokes. He thanked the crowd for coming to see him, especially since he was “face-down asleep not 100 feet from here,” he said, referring to his drunken nap.
Lopez continues with his act saying:
“I just did in Windsor what Justin Bieber does in America,” Lopez said to cheers and hoots. “A guy can’t have 52 shots? You know what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but what (expletive) happens in Windsor, everyone knows about.”
The 52-year-old comedian kept them laughing about his drunken incident by cracking jokes about it during the first 10 minutes of the show. He told his fans that he had been drinking tequila the night before and went on to say:
“I used to be able to handle that…” he said. “I woke up this morning, wait, this doesn’t look like the Windsor hotel. Wait a second; I’m not sharing my suite with a black guy. How did they find a black guy in Windsor anyway?”
Before going into the show, his fans knew that Lopez would address his drunken night out, because that’s just how Lopez is. They were right because not only was he very forth coming with his drunken night in Canada, but he did a good job at making fun of himself for doing it! Once again the sold-out house loved him, evident with the cheers and applause.
