George John improving, takes part in team tests Monday

FC Dallas defender George John, who underwent surgery last December to remove bone spurs from his left ankle, was healthy enough to take to the practice field with the rest of the team Monday as they participated in individual physical testing, including a long distance timed run. FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman said he's glad to see his top central defender back in action.

"I talked to the trainers last week and they're really pleased with his progress," Hyndman said. "He’s further ahead than what they anticipated. It was good to see him come through the testing."

Though John was originally expected to not miss any of the preseason, he had not participated on the field with the team in on-field preseason training activities until Monday. The 6'3" defender showed no obvious signs of lingering issues from the December ankle surgery, running without any noticeable limp. If healthy, John will likely start at centerback in the FC Dallas season opener against Colorado Rapids on March 2nd.
