“I'll be on Anderson Cooper's program on CNN on Jan. 30,” she said.
CNN will also present “The Sixties: The British Invasion” at 9 p.m. ET that same evening. The one-hour special, a program that is part of a longer historical series, will feature interviews with Smokey Robinson, Graham Nash and Micky Dolenz, among others looking back at the Beatles' 50th anniversary.
Maybe the best news is that her book, “My Kid Brother's Band,” is set to go and can now be pre-ordered through the website of publisher Acclaim Press. The book, which she worked on for three years, will be released in May. It tells of her behind-the-scenes work to spread Beatlemania to the U.S. and her experiences in traveling with the Beatles on their American tours, including untold episodes of the hysteria faced by her brother and his fellow Beatles.
“The guys in my band were desperate that I do it. It's really not right that nobody really know the stuff I did to get the Beatles started. I guess they will when they read it.”
She told us the Beatles' time in New York in 1964 still holds a lot of memories.
“The fact that George was so terribly ill I was pulled into his room to look after him. It was very hectic and very chaotic,” she said.
Her brother was sick during rehearsals for “The Ed Sullivan Show.” A staffer, Vince Calandra (see our exclusive interview with him), was used as a substitute Beatle during the run-through. Calandra will discuss his experience at the Fest for Beatles Fans Feb. 7 to 9 in New York.
Louise said the tribute band Liverpool Legends with whom she appears has several gigs lined up in February. These include a show Feb. 6 at Bettendorf High School in Bettendorf, Iowa, and Feb. 9 at the Arcada Theater in St. Charles, Ill. The Feb. 9 event will include a screening of the Beatles Grammy Awards special.
