Martin Scorsese's "George Harrison: Living in the Material World" documentary, already a winner in the recent Critics' Choice Movie Awards, could win up to three more with its nominations in upcoming awards shows.
The film has been nominated for Best Documentary by British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA). Director Martin Scorsese has also been nominated for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentaries by the Director's Guild of America (DGA).
Also, film editor David Tedeschi has been nominated in the Best Edited Documentary category by the American Cinema Editors (ACE).
The first word will come at the end of the month. The Director's Guild winners will be announced at the 64th Annual DGA Awards Dinner Jan. 28 in Los Angeles. (Information page for the awards is here.)
The other awards will be revealed in February. The BAFTA nomination, a new category for this year's Orange British Academy Film Awards, will be announced Feb. 12. Finally, the Eddie Awards by the American Cinema Editors (ACE) will be announced Feb. 18 in Beverly Hills.
There's been no announcement of an American DVD release. Copies of the UK Region 2 DVD and Region 2 Blu-ray are available through third-party sellers on Amazon.com. The deluxe Blu-Ray version, with added content including a CD of unreleased music, is available at Amazon.co.uk. Region 2 DVDs are playable in America if you have a multi-region DVD or multi-region Blu-Ray player.
