Former United States president George H W Bush email account was hacked yesterday.
A computer hacker calling himself “Guccifer” stole personal information including a list of recent contact details for members of the Bush family, including home addresses, phone numbers and email addresses as well as photographs and paintings.
Six separate accounts are thought to have been hacked. Accounts thought to have been hacked include George H W Bush's daughter, Dorothy, his sister-in-law, former first lady Barbara Bush's brother, CBS sports presenter Jim Nantz and family friend Willard Hemingway.
Emails stolen from Dorthy Bush’s account include a detailed report of her father’s health.
Many of Bush’s family photographs and emails were posted online by Guccifer.
According to the Smoking Gun one of the hacked accounts included and email to Hemingway sent from Brit Hume, the Fox News political analyst, 5 days after the 2012 presidential election. The email stated, “Election outcome disappointing, but there are many silver linings.”
One of the photos intercepted include a picture of Bush in the hospital. Other photographs include a picture of George H.W. Bush with Clinton at the Bush family compound in Maine; Jeb Bush; George W. Bush posing next to a cardboard cutout with his face attached to it; George W. Bush with Ralph Lauren and the designer’s son David and Barbara Bush and Laura Bush posing with a military member.
The hacker also intercepted photos George W. Bush emailed to his sister showing self-portraits of him bathing and showering.
The Secret Service is investigating the matter but could not confirm any of the content that has been taken from the former president’s email account.
