George Clooney is engaged according to several reports. The "forever bachelor" has reportedly decided to pop the question to his girlfriend Amal Alamuddin according to USA Today (April 27). Clooney and Alamuddin, 36, began dating in the fall but evidently Clooney is ready to take the next step with her. It's unknown why Clooney decided that he wanted to marry Amal or why she was the one who got a ring out of him -- but it was unexpected to say the least. Details about said ring have yet to be released but a source says it's "huge." In fairness, Clooney has had a lot of time to save up for it...
Clooney has always been a sort of loner who just couldn't close the deal with any of his previous girlfriends. While he's dated some amazing women, his relationships usually lasted about two years before the break-up, which was always inevitable. Everyone is curious about Alamuddin and how she managed to change Clooney's mind about love and marriage -- and how she did it so quick.
George Clooney getting engaged after just a few months really makes people wonder why, at age 52, George is ready to get married. Girlfriend after girlfriend -- Sarah Larson, Elisabetta Canalis, Stacy Kiebler -- Clooney just never wanted to buy a ring and make it official. Aside from the inevitable pregnancy rumors, what else would make George want to close the deal with Amal Alamuddin?
According to People Magazine, Alamuddin has a lot of qualities that George would be attracted to. For starters, she is well-educated (she has a law degree) and speaks French, Arabic, and English fluently. She is more than just a pretty face, often referred to as an activist. She has worked for Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and now-Supreme Court justice Sonia Sotomayor which means her resumé is top notch.
Why else would George Clooney get engaged? Revenge could be a factor since his ex, Stacy Kiebler got herself married and pregnant just months after she split from Clooney. But George doesn't seem like that kind of guy, does he? A pregnancy could also have swayed George's mind when it comes to settling down. And then there's this: Maybe, just maybe, George realized that life is too short to be alone.
