The cold weather has finally arrived in New England, and some local geocachers are taking advantage of it.
Snow or shine, a few upcoming events are scheduled for geocachers to get together, meet, share stories, swap travel bugs, and more.
W.M.G. Hike Day #5 (GC3972V) is taking place in the southern part of Berkshire County, and the plan is to summit Alander Mt. in Mt. Washington State Forest along the New York border. The hike is expected to take around 4hours round trip. Starting at 10:00 AM on January 22, 2012, the hike will offer geocaching and scenic views including the historic Mt. Washington Fire Tower.
Winterstock 2012 (GC38ZTJ) is taking place at Harold Parker Woods in North Andover, MA from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on February 4th, 2012. This event will take place out in the wilderness, so dress appropriately and don’t forget your geocaching gear and swag. Attendees are welcome to ski, hike, snowshoe, or like one family did last year – dog sled to the meeting location.
More information and updates (such as extreme weather condition cancellation) for both events can be found by visiting geocaching.com.
