Geocaching Massachusetts: Sunrise Geocaching, In the Evening?

It’s common knowledge that the sun rises in the east, and then sets in the west.  However, if you happen to be local to Boston, MA this October, you’re in for a possible treat that will amaze the eyes.

While not an actual flash mob, the geocaching event , Flash Mob: Wrong Way Sunset, invites geocachers to gather and observe some twisted reality that will have you wondering if it is dusk or dawn.  According to local geocacher and event creator, trainlove, twice a year the sunset in the west can uniquely be seen reflecting off Boston’s Prudential Building.  The event location, which is located some 40+ miles to the west of Boston makes a great viewing spot for what viewers will perceive as an eastern sunrise occurring during evening hours.

While the view will be best with clear skies, the event is currently being held, rain or shine.  Geocacher trainlove also notes that while the event is being held on a Sunday, the best possible view of the reality bending view may actually be seen within a day or two of the event date.  Those planning to attend are asked to bring a portable chair if possible as seating is limited.  Additionally, parking in the area may be limited as well.
