Hollywood is a small town, but Vancouver is even smaller. Once actors in the Hollywood of the north work together, they are inevitably sealing the deal of seeing each other on set again soon. Such is the case for Riese: Kingdom Falling stars Ryan Robbins and Allison Mack who not only worked together on a short a few years ago but are also prepping an independent feature for release in 2011.

"I’ve known Allison for years, probably since the second or third season of Smallville. I’ve known Allison at least six and a half years, I want to say, and we’ve always wanted to work together," Robbins explained during a one-on-one interview with LA TV Insider Examiner. "We did a short film together that the creator of Sanctuary had written called Alice & Huck, and she and my producing partner Chris Petry who’s an associate producer on Smallville had done another project together a while back."

Needless to say, they were more than familiar and comfortable each other. So much so that they began working on a passion project, the independent film, Marilyn, in which they both produced and starred.

"Marilyn has been a labor of love for many years," Robbins continued. "It's a story that the writer really wanted us to make, but he passed away in prison before we could make it. So we’re really motivated. We knew Allison was perfect for the lead, and it was a great opportunity for Allison and I to work together, so we went for it. People talk about making films on a shoe-string budget but ours was worse than that: ours was pocket change and favors!"

Though Robbins didn't give away details of the film, it wasn't just that he was being secretive; the film simply isn't completed yet.

"With all of our work schedules and commitments it’s been really challenging, but it is shot; we just have a couple of things to pick up, and then hopefully we’ll get it out there," he was candid, noting that he has seen a cut trailer and he is really proud of it.

Of course the obvious question is when the fans can see it. Robbins told LA TV Insider Examiner that he plans to have some footage ready for their viewing (and naturally, reviewing) pleasure by the new year: "I know a lot of fans are really chomping at the bit to see something, and they’ve been so supportive and patient; I’d really like to give them something as soon as possible."

Are you marking your calendars now? How many of you can't wait to see it? In the meantime, be sure to check out Mack and Robbins' new SyFy web series, Riese: Kingdom Falling. LA TV Insider Examiner will have more interviews about that series in the coming days so be sure to subscribe now!
