Genie Francis talks GH 50th anniversary, Luke & Laura, and being on 'Dexter'

Genie Francis has returned to "General Hospital" in February and the excitement surrounding the show is at high peak as the longest running ABC soap opera approaches its 50th anniversary. Fans have been treated with returns of long time favorites and a revisit of one of the most popular storylines in soap history. In a recent interview with radio talk show host Brett Winterble, Francis talks about the 50th anniversary and shocks listeners and fans admitting that she would love to play a murderess on the show "Dexter".

Genie has played many characters but it is hard to imagine the versatile actress playing such a role. But if anyone can do it, it is Genie Francis.

"I'd love to go on Dexter and be the guest murderess. It would be funny because I don't look like one. I'm the last person you would suspect that way."

Yes, it would be tough to see the actress who will always be linked with the character of Laura Spencer, playing anything other than the warm hearted, generous, loving but independent soul who formed one half of daytimes most popular super couple Luke and Laura.

Francis talked about the popularity the legendary couple received and the fun the actors are having being back together again on the set.

"People love it because we all want to believe that when we find our soul mate, our perfect other half, together we can conquer the world or save the world as Luke and Laura did."

As the show explores the Ice Princess storyline, perhaps the duo will save the world again while in the meantime finding their way back to each other as the character of Laura is currently engaged to teenage sweetheart Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner).

Shriner also made his return in February reigniting the rivalry between Scott and Luke (Anthony Geary). Genie says having everyone together again is reminiscent of the glory days and the atmosphere feels like home.

"It feels like coming home, I'm having the best time, I'm really enjoying myself. It's like a high school reunion for me because I was on the show during high school years."
