Genetically engineered fish a new threat to the environment

Would you know a GE fish if you caught one, would you eat it?

Genetically engineered salmon have been introduced into the American waters that produce growth hormone year-round not for just a part of the year like normal salmon do. The problem with a genetically engineered “mutant” fish made with genetically engineered cells is that it is not natural for a fish to produce this hormone all year long. This hormone drives cell proliferation, and the opportunity for the accumulation of genetic errors in the name of cancer-namely breast, endometrium, ovary, prostate, testis, thyroid and osteosarcoma. If you have a predisposition to developing cancer or it runs in your family, you become a high risk profile.

A genetically engineered salmon is being sold as a new animal drug

These fish are pharmaceutical factories made in partner to the chemical-producing, GMO company Monsanto, that has the public going GMO mad right now.

Is this the real reason dams are being taken down, in order for the mutant larger salmon to have a larger area in which to spawn

Why not take the dams down and give the ‘real’ natural fish a vast scape from which to spawn and grow, and increase their numbers instead of releasing a new animal drug into the waters. What about the children, this will subject them to carcinogens at an earlier age. These fish are being engineered with chemicals used by the pharmaceutical industry.

If people are afraid to eat fish now that may contain unnatural levels of mercury, what’s the safety of eating a mutant chemically-made fish, that may be swimming in toxic chemicals that get illegally dumped?

Fish number and catch propaganda

The way the government got the public to go along with this frankenfish is by way of scaring the public for years about the low fish numbers. While this mutant fish was being scientifically researched and produced, the public was being seduced into thinking it was a national if not globally fish crisis, and a necessary thing to do.

The genetically engineered fish is larger and capable of producing at a higher efficient rate, throwing the aquatic environment in for a huge imbalanced threat, and could lead to an extinction of a wild population and not just a wild population but 40-years’ worth of generations. Carp, trout, tilapia and catfish, gold fish, zebra fish, mud loach, abalone, striped bass and oysters, are now in production for stocking.

It’s weird, crude science

Think of the largest of any one of these species that have been caught, imagine a frankenfish which grows to be two to six times the size of the average natural fish species in one year’s time. During this scientific research, scientists were able to produce fish that got up to 13-times the size of its average natural species. It’s outrageous, it’s irresponsible. If the public needs to take back the food supply for fear of GMO-made fruits and vegetables and “occupy the food supply, the fishermen and women need to occupy the waters and the fish that swim in them.

Conservation and preservation gone awry

A mutant salmon grows constantly for 18 months compared to the 24-30 months naturally. Instead of only producing growth hormone during the spring months when it grows naturally, it will grow for 18 continuous months. Freaky is putting it mildly. What will a fish eat that grows enormously past what is natural size; it will completely devastate and put all smaller natural species into extinction. Talk about invasive species. If you think carp are upsetting the natural balance now, what’s one growing even larger in size going to do to the waters? They will eat more and swim farther.

And the ecosystem balance

For example, in England the myxoma virus was invented to keep rabbits from overpopulating, which lead to a sharp decrease in rabbit numbers immediately, which lead to a certain species of grass taking over which eventually led to its demise. But a certain ant who nests from the grass is now endangered, and so is the Large Blue Butterfly ( Maculina arion) because it actually feeds on these ants. Just because science can, doesn't mean it should

What’s wrong with this picture

Overpopulation by fish that can produce at abnormally increased levels, scientists say can be minimized by releasing sterile fish, or different techniques like pressure or temperature shock, can be applied to this fish eggs so they are not able to grow. This is over kill and only the beginning of a viscous cycle.

What's next, a genetically engineered fish that can withstand chemical dumping, that the public still won't be able to eat for all of the chemicals in the tissues. Now the need for the Georgia fishing museum makes perfect sense, so our children have a place to go to remember what real fish actually looked like. The changes at Georgia DNR-kicking out the conservationist-didn't make sense last year but they do now.
