The pews of the Burns Flat Cumberland Presbyterian Church were not as full as normal, but it was not in anticipation of an extra long sermon by the pastor. It was because several members were being God’s love in action at Will Rogers Elementary School.
What was happening at the school?
Volunteers were preparing a spaghetti dinner ready to serve at noon.
To raise money to help with medical and travel expenses for Aubree Walker. Aubree has a unique condition known as FAVA and must travel to Boston for further diagnosis and treatment. That means some hefty travel expense on top of whatever the medical costs add up to.
So how much money did this event raise?
That’s an impressive amount for such a small community and hopefully will help ease expenses in the Walker household as they travel east.
While the Cumberland Presbyterian Church sponsored this event; staff and students of Will Rogers Elementary responded in large numbers manning the kitchen, washing trays, serving desserts, and providing an exceptional cleanup to the school’s cafeteria.
Many donated substantially more than the meal price demonstrating once again the generosity of this small community.
Well done to all those who contributed to this worthy cause.
The hopes, prayers, and now the donations of this community go out to Aubree and her family.
