Applications for the 2014 Charlotte Street Foundation’s Generative Performing Artist Awards are due by Thursday, November 14, 2013. Two $10,000 awards will be made.
The award competition recognizes leading artists that create outstanding, innovative, original work in the fields of:
- performance art
- and hybrid/interdisciplinary versions of any of the above listed categories
Generative artists are creators of original work, rather than solely performers or interpreters of works created by others.
The awards provide financial support, critical recognition, and increased exposure for the artists, with the aim of fostering their continued artistic and professional development.
Since launching in 2008, the Charlotte Street Generative Performing Artist Awards have now recognized 11 Kansas City-based generative performing artists, with a total of $75,000 in unrestricted funds distributed to these 11 artists.
A rotating panel of Awards Advisors is responsible for selecting the Charlotte Street Foundation Awards Fellows each year.
The recipients were selected based on the quality of their work and accomplishments to date, for their promise for continued creation and development as generative artists, and for the relevance of their work in relation to the broader field of contemporary art and performance.
