As first spoiled by “General Hospital” actor William deVry via Twitter and later confirmed by the show, Oscar-winning actress Shirley Jones will make an appearance on daytime’s longest running American soap opera. As TV Guide Magazine reports on Jan. 16, the actress most known for her role on “The Partridge Family” will guest star on Feb. 5.

Shirley Jones won’t be playing herself. The actress will play Mrs. McClain, a lonely widow who may have seen something in the graveyard where Franco (Roger Howarth) originally buried his mother Heather (Robin Mattson) alive.

A “General Hospital” rep told TV Guide Magazine in an exclusive scoop:

“Mrs. McLain comes across a suspicious gravedigger late one night at the cemetery and takes her suspicions to Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) at the PCPD, thinking this might have something to do with the fugitive the police are looking for.”

Mrs. McClain may provide a clue as to the whereabouts of Carly (Laura Wright) who has been missing due to the devious plan of Heather.

Whatever Mrs. McLain has to tell the PCPD, it will be good seeing Shirley Jones on “General Hospital” which will be her second stint on a daytime drama. She previously appeared in a string of episodes on NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” where she played Colleen Brady.
